Welcome to the Ranch
Are you ready for the big game hunt and adventure of a lifetime? If so, then you have come to the right place. The Diamond D Ranch is located in the middle of the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area in central Idaho. The Frank Church is approximately 2.4 million acres, the second largest wilderness area outside the state of Alaska.
The Demorest family first stepped foot on the Diamond D Ranch in 1951 and began big game outfitting in 1960. Today, the Diamond D remains one of the oldest and most well known outfitting businesses in the state of Idaho. Loon Creek runs through the Diamond D Ranch and is one of the main tributaries to the Middle Fork of the Salmon river. At an altitude of 5,785 feet, it is completely surrounded by wilderness and has been in operation for close to 100 years. This is Loon Creek territory, famous for sport fishing and big game hunting, as well as summer vacationing.
Hunting Camps
From the season opening through the first part of November, we pack into the surrounding wilderness area and hunt from camps. Our main camps have full facilities for six hunters and is set up to provide the maximum hunting time possible. You will be in good hunting territory immediately upon leaving the ranch with a guide for every two hunters, or a private guide on a premium hunt. The main camp is established to ensure utmost comfort...extra large, fully equipped cook tent and large, two-man sleeping tents with cots, lanterns, and heating stoves.
Percentage of Kill
This is a difficult question to answer! We can have 100% kill on mule deer. We also have a large elk population and a very high percentage of kill for the ardent hunter who wants to get out and work. Our long season indicates the large number of deer and elk in our management areas. We read about and hear about guarantees and could offer the same thing with the same loopholes, but choose not to operate that way. We feel that any true sportsman knows that there is no such thing as a guarantee they will get their dream animal... even if we show it to them.
